ePSXe glitched when I used a savestate, and I think it erased all my memcard saves

I was playing an FFT hack on ePSXe (windows 7) and I hit F3 to load a savestate. Instead of loading, it muted all sound and would not load any savestates. I tried using the menu in case the hotkeys were messed up, but that didn't change anything and neither did restarting the program. Even worse, it appears to have saved over my savestate even though I hit load and not save.

I downloaded a fresh copy of ePSXe which is working fine, however I want to keep my FFT progress. I'm several hours...
