Constant Freeze

Hi, I'm trying to play Crash Bandicoot 2 on ePSXe 1.6 but I'm having a little trouble I'd really like to fix. The game runs great, really, but every now and then (between 30 sec and 2 minutes) the game and sounds freeze for like 3-5 secs, it's very annoying. If some of you fixed a similar problem I'd like to know how they fixed it.
